The Code of Anti-Racism
and Co-Design

We believe eradicating systemic racism and white supremacy requires systems and organizations to acknowledge and identify how they appear daily. Also, the work ahead requires short-term and long-term goals and partnerships to address them. Below are core actions and principles systems and organizations must execute to implement and practice co-design and anti-racism:

Racism is a public health crisis and, therefore should be addressed with a profound level of urgency.

1

Systems and organizations must prioritize anti-racist action and incorporate it into short-term and long-term strategies. This includes establishing structures to ensure the physical, social, and emotional well-being of those most harmed and their employees.

2

Furthermore, systems and organizations must commit to preparing relationships and building trust with the communities most harmed.

3

Populations most impacted by harmful systems and infrastructures should and must have power to make decisions on processes and outputs of any initiatives, programming, etc.

4

Racially diverse perspectives are important to changing the current paradigm. It is imperative to acknowledge and respect cultural differences and also prioritize the experience of the populations most impacted.

5

Systems and organizations understand the importance and prioritize removing hierarchal, relational, cultural, and professional barriers to engagement for lived experience.

6

Systems and organizations integrate individuals with lived experience into the teams, enabling them to be agents of change rather than external voices.
